About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and passionate 3D Environment Artist to join their esteemed studio in Leeds . You will be responsible for crafting breathtaking and immersive 3D environments that form the backbone of their visually stunning projects. This role is integral to building the worlds players and viewers will explore, requiring a keen eye for detail, composition, and artistic storytelling. You will work alongside a dedicated team of artists, designers, and developers, contributing to the overall aesthetic and atmosphere of our client's acclaimed productions. This is an on-site position that fosters a strong sense of team camaraderie and hands-on collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D environment assets, including models, textures, and materials, adhering to project art style and technical requirements.
- Assemble and integrate assets into game engines or DCC tools to build complete, immersive environments.
- Utilize modern industry tools such as Maya , 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and engine editors (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Optimize environment assets for performance and memory usage without compromising visual fidelity.
- Collaborate with level designers and art directors to ensure environments are functional, visually compelling, and align with narrative goals.
- Research and gather references to ensure authenticity and detail in environmental design.
Requirements
- Proven professional experience (3+ years) as a 3D Environment Artist within the games, film, or VFX industry.
- A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional skill in creating realistic or stylized 3D environments, props, and textures.
- Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling, sculpting, and texturing software.
- Familiarity with real-time rendering engines and their environment creation workflows.
- Excellent understanding of composition, lighting, and color theory as applied to environmental art.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to receive and implement feedback effectively.
