About the Role
Our client, a highly-regarded game development studio in Edinburgh , is seeking a talented 3D Environment Artist to craft stunning and believable game worlds. You will be responsible for modeling, texturing, and lighting environments that immerse players in richly detailed settings. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong artistic foundation, and proficiency in industry-standard tools. Key Responsibilities
- Model, sculpt, and texture high-quality 3D environment assets, including props, architecture, and terrain.
- Assemble and light game environments within the chosen game engine (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Optimize environment assets for performance and scalability across target platforms.
- Collaborate with level designers and art directors to realize the artistic vision for game worlds.
- Ensure consistency in art style, quality, and technical execution throughout the environment pipeline.
- Contribute to the creation of shaders, materials, and post-processing effects for environments.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a 3D Environment Artist in the video game industry, with a strong portfolio.
- Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop).
- Experience with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Strong understanding of architectural forms, natural landscapes, and lighting principles.
- Excellent artistic eye for composition, color, and detail.
