Accounts Assistant Role Overview
A great opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our clients finance team based in Liverpool. This is a varied position offering exposure to all aspects of transactional finance, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations, credit control and month-end support. Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function.
Accounts Assistant Responsibilities:
- Process purchase ledger invoices, matching, coding and posting accurately.
- Raise and process sales invoices in a timely manner.
- Allocate customer receipts and supplier payments.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries.
- Assist with credit control, chasing outstanding payments and maintaining aged debt.
- Process payment runs via BACS and online banking.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and post cash transactions.
- Assist with month-end procedures, including journal postings and reconciliations.
- Prepare and reconcile accruals and prepayments where required.
- Support the preparation of VAT returns.
- Produce ad hoc reports using Excel and accounting software.
- Provide administrative support to the wider finance team.
Accounts Assistant Experience Required
- Previous experience working in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
- Strong understanding of purchase ledger and sales ledger processes.
- Experience of bank reconciliations and supplier statement reconciliations.
- Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and Pivot Tables (desirable).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive and positive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT (desirable but not essential).
