About the Role
Our client, a reputable organisation based in the historic city of Oxford , is seeking a diligent and organised Accounts Payable Supervisor to oversee their accounts payable function. This role is vital for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. You will lead a small team, implement best practices, and contribute to the efficiency of the finance department. This is a great opportunity for an experienced AP professional to step into a supervisory role within a supportive and dynamic team in Oxfordshire .
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable department, ensuring efficient processing of all invoices and payments.
- Manage and mentor a team of accounts payable clerks, providing guidance and support.
- Ensure all supplier invoices are accurately recorded, coded, and approved in a timely manner.
- Process and reconcile weekly/monthly payment runs, ensuring adherence to payment terms.
- Maintain the vendor master file, ensuring accuracy and completeness of supplier information.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies and queries from suppliers and internal departments.
- Assist with the month-end close process and prepare AP-related reports.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls within the AP function.
Requirements
- Proven experience in accounts payable, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and best practices.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero) and ERP systems.
- Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a team.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
