We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable individual to join our team as an Administrator on a 12-month maternity cover basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the smooth running of prison education services within a unique and purposeful setting, supporting colleagues and learners to access the tools, data and support they need to succeed.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Cambria, our prison education provider at HMP Berwyn, working as an Administrator. This role is offered on a 12 month fixed term, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Berwyn is a Category C prison in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It accommodates a male population. It is the largest prison in the UK, opened in 2017, and is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. The prisons aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society

Role Responsibilities

• Provide effective administrative support to the education team, helping to ensure programmes, learner records and day-to-day processes run smoothly.
• Maintain accurate learner and course information using internal systems, ensuring data is recorded, updated and handled in line with relevant procedures.
• Support communication between colleagues, learners, prison departments and external stakeholders, responding to queries in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist with preparing documentation, reports, registers and resources to support teaching, learning and quality assurance activity.
• Contribute to a safe, secure and organised education environment by following prison procedures and supporting the wider team as required.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Have good literacy and numeracy skills - GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above
• Hold an appropriate Business Administration qualification at L2 or above (or have equivalent occupational experience)
• Be able to speak and understand Welsh fluently (Desirable but not essential)
• Have experience of supporting an efficient administration service within a busy office environment
• Have experience of using a variety of Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word
• Have experience of maintaining accurate electronic and paper-based data recording systems
