Job Description
Job Title: Admissions and Attendance Officer Location: Newham, East London Start Date: ASAPAdmissions and Attendance Officer – Newham
Teaching Consultancy is working with a welcoming and inclusive [primary/secondary] school in Newham to recruit an organised and proactive Admissions and Attendance Officer. This is a key role at the heart of the school office, helping pupils settle in smoothly and making sure every child is in school and ready to learn.
The role
- Manage the full admissions process, including in-year admissions, liaising with parents and the Local Authority
- Maintain accurate pupil records on the school's MIS (e.g. SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom)
- Monitor daily attendance, follow up on absences and make first-day contact calls to parents/carers
- Identify attendance patterns and flag concerns to the Attendance Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Prepare attendance reports and data for the Senior Leadership Team and statutory returns
- Support attendance meetings, letters, parenting contracts and Local Authority referrals
- Arrange welcome meetings and induction for new pupils and families
- Provide general administrative support to the school office
The ideal candidate will have
- Experience in a school admissions, attendance or school office role (preferred)
- Confident use of a school MIS and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills and a warm, professional manner with families
- Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for accuracy
- An understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
- Knowledge of DfE attendance guidance (desirable)
- Additional languages spoken in the local community would be an advantage
