Adult Support Worker - Complex Needs

About the Role

Our client is seeking compassionate and resilient Adult Support Workers to join their dedicated team in Wolverhampton . This role involves providing essential care and support to adults with complex needs, including learning disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviours. You will work in a supported living environment, empowering individuals to lead fulfilling and independent lives within their community. Your role will be crucial in fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating atmosphere, encouraging personal growth and well-being for all residents, whilst adhering to person-centred care principles and contributing to a positive and inclusive living environment for those in your charge.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with personal care, daily living tasks, and the management of medication.
• Implement and follow individualised support plans, promoting independence and life skills development.
• Support clients in engaging in a range of community-based activities, hobbies, and social opportunities.
• Manage challenging behaviours constructively and proactively, utilising de-escalation techniques.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of care provided, observations, and any incidents.
• Collaborate effectively with families, external agencies, and the wider care team to ensure holistic support.

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting adults with complex needs is highly desirable.
• A minimum of NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards it.
• Understanding of safeguarding principles, equality, and diversity in care.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, including nights, weekends, and sleep-in duties as required.
• A patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude is essential.
