About the Role
Our client is looking for a compassionate and resilient Adult Support Worker to join their team in Plymouth . This role focuses on providing essential support to adults with various needs, including learning disabilities, mental health challenges, and physical disabilities, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives within their community. You will work in supported living settings or client homes, assisting with daily living tasks, promoting independence, and ensuring the safety and well-being of each individual. This is a critical role within the Community & Social Care sector, offering immense job satisfaction in the Plymouth region.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist adults with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, and grooming, ensuring privacy and dignity.
- Support clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, household chores, and managing finances.
- Administer or assist with medication as per care plans and training provided.
- Encourage and facilitate social interaction, community participation, and engagement in meaningful activities.
- Monitor clients' emotional and physical well-being, reporting any concerns or changes to the care manager promptly.
- Promote independence and encourage clients to develop life skills and make their own choices.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting adults with complex needs is advantageous.
- Strong communication and listening skills, with empathy and patience.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including evenings and weekends.
- Relevant qualifications or a willingness to obtain them in health and social care.
