Agricultural Crop Inspector

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and observant Agricultural Crop Inspector to join their regulatory and quality assurance team operating across the Leeds, West Yorkshire region. This critical role involves conducting on-site inspections of farms and agricultural premises to ensure compliance with agricultural standards, environmental regulations, and crop health protocols. You will be responsible for identifying potential risks, assessing crop conditions, and providing detailed reports to support regulatory decision-making. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of agricultural practices, and the ability to work independently in various farm settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site visits to farms, orchards, and other agricultural enterprises to inspect crops, livestock, and farming practices.
• Assess compliance with government regulations, industry standards, and specific client requirements regarding crop quality, pest control, and pesticide use.
• Identify and report on crop diseases, pest infestations, and other agricultural hazards, recommending appropriate actions.
• Collect samples of crops, soil, or water for laboratory analysis when required.
• Prepare comprehensive inspection reports detailing findings, including any non-compliance issues and suggested corrective measures.
• Educate farmers and growers on best practices and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• A degree or HND in Agriculture, Crop Science, Agronomy, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrable knowledge of UK agricultural systems, crop types, and common pests and diseases.
• Experience in conducting field inspections or surveys within the agricultural sector.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail in report writing.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and travel within the assigned region.
• A valid driving license and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.
