Agricultural Crop Scout

About the Role

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and observant Agricultural Crop Scout to join their team in Nottingham . In this crucial field-based role, you will be responsible for meticulously inspecting crops to identify and monitor pests, diseases, weeds, and nutrient deficiencies. Your accurate observations and reports are vital for enabling timely and effective crop protection strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for agriculture to contribute to the health and productivity of crops in the Nottinghamshire region.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular field inspections of crops to assess plant health and identify any signs of pests, diseases, or weeds.
• Accurately record observations, including the type and severity of any issues found, and map their locations.
• Report findings to the farm manager or agronomist in a timely and clear manner.
• Assist in the implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) programs based on scouted information.
• Collect plant and soil samples for laboratory analysis when required.
• Maintain accurate records of scouting activities and findings.

Requirements

• A background in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is preferred, but practical experience is valued.
• Excellent observational skills and the ability to identify common agricultural pests and diseases.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording information.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field.
• Good communication skills for reporting findings.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
