About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly capable and experienced Agricultural Estate Manager to oversee a significant rural estate in the Belfast region. This comprehensive role requires a strategic leader to manage all aspects of agricultural operations, land management, property maintenance, and staff supervision. You will be responsible for ensuring the profitability and sustainability of the estate's farming activities, preserving its natural resources, and maintaining the integrity of its infrastructure. This is a demanding, hands-on position requiring a broad skill set and a commitment to excellence in rural estate management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the efficient and sustainable management of the agricultural land and associated farming operations.
- Oversee crop production, livestock management, and any diversification projects on the estate.
- Manage a team of estate workers, including agricultural staff, groundskeepers, and maintenance personnel.
- Ensure the upkeep and repair of all estate buildings, infrastructure, and machinery.
- Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and report on the estate's profitability and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Maintain positive relationships with tenants, contractors, and local authorities.
Requirements
- A degree in Agriculture, Estate Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in agricultural or rural estate management.
- Proven track record in managing diverse agricultural operations and staff effectively.
- Strong understanding of agronomy, soil science, livestock husbandry, and land conservation.
- Experience with budget management, financial reporting, and estate planning.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
