Our client is seeking a motivated Agricultural Technician to support their crop science research and development initiatives in the Bristol area. This hands-on role involves assisting scientists in conducting field trials, collecting data, and maintaining experimental plots to evaluate new crop varieties, treatments, and farming techniques. You will play a vital part in advancing agricultural innovation, contributing to the development of more resilient and productive crops. This position is ideal for someone with a strong practical aptitude and a keen interest in agricultural research.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and execution of field experiments, including plot preparation, planting, and treatment application.
- Collect accurate and timely data on crop growth, yield, pest incidence, and environmental conditions.
- Operate and maintain agricultural machinery and scientific equipment used in trials.
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis and assist with laboratory procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, observations, and results.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental protocols on research sites.
Requirements
- A degree or HND in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related science.
- Previous experience working in an agricultural or research setting is desirable.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Proficiency in basic data recording and computer skills.
- A keen interest in crop science and agricultural innovation.
