Agricultural Technician - Soil and Crop Health

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Agricultural Technician to join their team, focusing on soil and crop health analysis, based in Derby, Derbyshire . This hybrid role involves conducting fieldwork to collect samples and perform on-site assessments, as well as laboratory analysis and data interpretation. You will play a crucial role in advising farmers on optimizing soil fertility, nutrient management, and overall crop performance, contributing to sustainable and productive farming. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct field sampling of soil, plant tissues, and water for laboratory analysis.
• Perform laboratory tests to assess nutrient levels, pH, organic matter, and other soil properties.
• Analyze data from field and lab tests to provide recommendations on fertilizer application, soil amendments, and crop nutrition.
• Assist in monitoring crop health, identifying pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
• Operate and maintain field and laboratory equipment.
• Contribute to the development of integrated nutrient management plans and sustainable farming strategies.

Requirements

• HND or Degree in Agriculture, Soil Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Experience in soil and crop analysis or a similar technical role in agriculture.
• Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and analytical techniques.
• Good understanding of soil chemistry, plant physiology, and nutrient cycles.
• Ability to conduct fieldwork in various weather conditions.
• Strong data interpretation skills and ability to communicate findings effectively, both verbally and in writing.
