AI Data Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leader in AI & Emerging Technologies , is seeking an experienced AI Data Engineer to join their hybrid team in Nottingham . This role is fundamental to building and maintaining the robust data infrastructure required for advanced AI and machine learning initiatives. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring the availability, quality, and accessibility of data for our data science and AI teams. Working in a collaborative environment that balances office presence with remote flexibility, you will play a key role in enabling data-driven innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage of large datasets.
• Develop and manage data warehousing solutions and data lakes to support AI/ML workflows.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems.
• Optimize data infrastructure for performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with data scientists and AI engineers to understand their data requirements and provide efficient data access.
• Implement data governance policies and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on supporting AI/ML projects.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Experience with cloud data services (e.g., AWS RDS, S3, Redshift; Azure Data Factory, Synapse; GCP BigQuery, Cloud Storage).
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python for data manipulation and automation.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, collaborating both remotely and in the Nottingham office.
