AI Data Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous AI Data Engineer to join their growing data science team, operating on a remote basis, supporting their operations in Southampton . You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure essential for AI and machine learning initiatives. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of data used in model training and deployment. You will work with large-scale datasets, implement data governance best practices, and collaborate closely with data scientists and ML engineers to empower data-driven decision-making and foster innovation in AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems and pipelines.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for data ingestion, transformation, and preparation for AI/ML workloads.
• Implement data quality frameworks and ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to understand their data requirements and provide efficient data access.
• Build and manage data lakes and data warehouses, ensuring data security and compliance.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on supporting AI/ML projects.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python , SQL, and Scala.
• Experience with cloud data services (e.g., AWS S3, Redshift, Glue; Azure Data Lake, Databricks; GCP Cloud Storage, BigQuery).
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and data warehousing concepts.
• Strong understanding of data modeling and database design principles.
