Location: Head Office Department: Air Conditioning Reporting to: Managing Director and Director Team: Small team of AC Engineers
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and technically capable Air Conditioning Service Manager to lead and support a growing AC department from the company's head office.
The role will involve managing a small team of engineers, supporting them with technical queries, ensuring service and reactive works are planned efficiently, and assisting with the commercial side of the department, including pricing, quotations and small works.
The successful candidate will also work closely with senior management on larger projects, helping to develop solutions, obtain labour and ensure works are delivered efficiently and profitably.

Salary: £53,000–£60,000 DOE
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support a small team of Air Conditioning Engineers.
- Provide engineers with technical assistance and guidance when required.
- Review engineer reports and assist with diagnosing technical issues.
- Ensure all service, reactive and remedial works are correctly booked through the company's internal systems.
- Monitor the engineers' workload and planner to ensure works are completed within agreed timescales.
- Price and quote AC servicing, reactive works, remedial works and small installations.
- Review engineer findings and identify additional works and commercial opportunities.
- Assist with larger AC projects alongside senior management, including planning, costing and delivery.
- Obtain suitable labour and subcontractor support where required for larger projects.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers regarding technical issues, parts, pricing and lead times.
- Ensure service contracts and PPM requirements are properly scheduled and managed.
- Ensure the business remains appropriately affiliated, accredited and compliant with relevant AC industry associations, manufacturers and certification requirements.
- Keep company registrations, training requirements and industry accreditations up to date.
- Assist with recruitment, training and development of AC engineers as the department grows.
- Support senior management with technical input, labour requirements and resource planning on larger projects.
- Maintain good communication with clients and assist with technical meetings where required.
- Help develop the AC department and improve its processes, reporting and profitability.
Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong experience within the commercial air conditioning industry.
- Previous experience in a service management, senior engineer, supervisor or similar position.
- Strong technical knowledge of AC systems, including fault finding and servicing.
- Experience with Mitsubishi and other major AC manufacturers would be advantageous.
- Experience pricing service and remedial works.
- Good understanding of PPM contracts and service requirements.
- Experience managing or supervising engineers.
- Ability to read engineer reports, identify requirements and produce accurate quotations.
- Good knowledge of relevant AC legislation, regulations and industry requirements.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A commercial understanding of labour, materials, margins and project costs.
- Full UK driving licence.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, commercially minded and technically strong. This is not purely an office-based management position; we need someone who can speak confidently with engineers, understand technical problems, support them in the field and make sensible decisions on works and pricing.
You will have the opportunity to develop the AC department, work directly with senior management and have a genuine influence over how the department operates and grows.
This is a key role within the business, with the opportunity to build and manage the AC service function from the company's head office
