About the Role
Our client seeks a highly alert and responsible Air Traffic Controller to join their operational team at a key facility in Cardiff . In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing and directing air traffic safely and efficiently, ensuring the orderly flow of aircraft in controlled airspace. You will work within a high-pressure, dynamic environment, requiring exceptional concentration, quick decision-making skills, and adherence to strict procedures. This position is vital for maintaining aviation safety and operational integrity at one of the region's important aviation hubs.
Key Responsibilities
- Control and manage air traffic movements within assigned airspace, ensuring safe separation standards are maintained.
- Communicate effectively with pilots via radio, providing instructions, clearances, and critical information.
- Monitor radar displays and other surveillance systems to track aircraft and anticipate potential conflicts.
- Issue clearances for take-offs, landings, and en-route flight paths according to established procedures.
- Coordinate with other air traffic control units and operational stakeholders to manage overall air traffic flow.
- Respond promptly and decisively to emergencies and unusual situations, implementing contingency plans as needed.
Requirements
- Valid Air Traffic Controller license and appropriate ratings.
- Demonstrated experience in controlling aircraft in a busy airspace environment.
- Excellent situational awareness, decision-making capabilities, and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under extreme pressure.
- Proficiency with air traffic control systems and equipment.
- Successful completion of rigorous medical and psychological assessments.
