About the Role
Our client is recruiting for a highly skilled and alert Air Traffic Controller to manage air traffic operations at a busy regional airport in Cardiff . This critical role involves guiding aircraft safely and efficiently through controlled airspace, minimizing delays and preventing collisions. You will work in a high-pressure environment, utilizing sophisticated radar and communication systems to maintain situational awareness and make split-second decisions. The successful candidate will be a team player with exceptional concentration and communication abilities, committed to upholding the highest standards of aviation safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and guide aircraft movements on the ground and in the air within designated controlled airspace.
- Monitor radar displays and communication systems to maintain constant situational awareness of all airborne traffic.
- Issue clearances, advisories, and instructions to pilots in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
- Coordinate with other air traffic control units, airport operations, and emergency services.
- Manage air traffic flow to ensure safety, prevent congestion, and optimize runway utilization.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and unusual situations, implementing established procedures.
Requirements
- Valid Air Traffic Controller license and relevant ratings.
- Extensive experience in a live air traffic control environment.
- Proven ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English.
- Strong understanding of aviation procedures, meteorology, and airspace management.
- Must pass rigorous medical examinations and security background checks.
