About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly vigilant and skilled Air Traffic Controller to manage the airspace around Birmingham . This crucial position ensures the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic, playing a vital role in aviation safety. You will operate in a high-pressure environment, utilizing advanced radar and communication systems to guide aircraft, prevent collisions, and manage emergencies. This role requires exceptional decision-making abilities, concentration, and adherence to strict protocols, contributing to the seamless operation of one of the UK's busiest airports.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage all aircraft movements within designated airspace, ensuring safe separation standards are maintained.
• Communicate effectively with pilots via radio, providing clear and concise instructions and information.
• Utilize radar, communication, and navigation systems to track aircraft and manage traffic flow.
• Respond promptly and decisively to emergencies, implementing contingency plans as required.
• Liaise with other air traffic control units and relevant agencies to ensure coordinated operations.
• Continuously monitor weather conditions and their potential impact on air traffic operations.

Requirements

• Certification as an Air Traffic Controller with relevant ratings.
• Previous experience in a similar air traffic control role, preferably within a busy airport environment.
• Excellent concentration, situational awareness, and decision-making skills under pressure.
• Proficiency in using advanced air traffic management systems and communication equipment.
• Strong understanding of aviation regulations, procedures, and meteorology.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
