About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Aircraft Composites Technician to join their maintenance and repair team in Derby, Derbyshire, UK . This role is essential for the upkeep of modern aircraft structures, which increasingly utilize advanced composite materials. You will be responsible for the inspection, repair, and modification of composite components, ensuring they meet stringent aerospace standards for safety and performance. Working in a state-of-the-art facility, you will contribute to the structural integrity and operational capability of the aircraft fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and detailed NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) of composite structures to identify damage, defects, or wear.
- Execute composite repairs, including preparation, layup, curing, and finishing, following approved repair schemes and manufacturer guidelines.
- Fabricate and fit composite materials according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in composite repair, such as hot bonders and vacuum bagging systems.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all repair activities, materials used, and test results.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality assurance personnel to ensure all repairs meet the highest aerospace standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Aircraft Composites Technician or in a similar role working with composite materials in an aerospace environment.
- Proficiency in various composite repair techniques, including bonded and bolted repairs, and surface finishing.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, repair schemes, and NDT reports.
- Experience with NDT methods for composites is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of composite materials, including carbon fibre, fibreglass, and honeycomb structures.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, compliant repairs.
