Aircraft Interior Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and technically proficient Aircraft Interior Design Engineer to join their team in Plymouth . This role focuses on the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative aircraft cabin interiors that enhance passenger experience while meeting stringent safety and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with clients, project managers, and manufacturing teams to translate aesthetic visions into functional, compliant, and aesthetically pleasing interior solutions. This hybrid position combines on-site design reviews and collaborative sessions with remote work flexibility for detailed design and documentation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio of interior design work, preferably within the aerospace sector, and a keen eye for detail and materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovative interior concepts and detailed designs for aircraft cabins, including seating, galleys, lavatories, and overhead bins.
• Utilize CAD software to create 3D models, technical drawings, and renderings of interior components and layouts.
• Ensure all designs comply with aviation regulations (e.g., FAR Part 25, EASA CS-25) related to materials, fire safety, and structural integrity.
• Collaborate with materials specialists, industrial designers, and manufacturing engineers to select appropriate materials and finishes.
• Support the prototyping and testing phases, addressing any design challenges that arise during development.

Requirements

• Degree in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in aircraft interior design or a related field such as automotive or luxury product design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and rendering tools.
• Strong understanding of aircraft cabin systems, materials, ergonomics, and aviation regulations.
• Excellent visual communication, sketching, and presentation skills.
