Aircraft Mechanic - Avionics Specialist

About the Role

Our client requires a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic with a specialization in Avionics to join their maintenance team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . This position is critical for maintaining the complex electronic systems that govern aircraft navigation, communication, and control. You will work on a variety of aircraft, ensuring all avionics equipment functions correctly and meets stringent safety standards. Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair aircraft avionics equipment, including navigation, communication, flight control, and radar systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electronic and electrical issues within aircraft avionics systems using specialized test equipment.
• Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and maintenance instructions to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Perform functional checks and system calibrations to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Document all maintenance actions, component replacements, and test results meticulously in aircraft maintenance logs.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Aircraft Mechanic with a strong focus on avionics systems.
• Relevant certifications such as EASA Part-66 (Category B2) or equivalent military/civilian qualifications.
• Proficiency with various types of avionics test equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Solid understanding of electronic principles, digital systems, and aircraft electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities in a demanding workshop environment.
