Aircraft Performance Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical Aircraft Performance Engineer to join their team in Nottingham . This role focuses on analyzing and optimizing aircraft performance characteristics, including flight dynamics, fuel efficiency, and aerodynamic efficiency. You will work closely with design, flight test, and operations teams to enhance aircraft capabilities and ensure compliance with performance-related regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in aerodynamics, flight mechanics, and data analysis, with a passion for improving the efficiency and capability of aerospace vehicles . Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and model aircraft aerodynamic performance, including lift, drag, and stability characteristics.
• Develop and validate flight performance models to predict fuel burn, range, and payload capabilities.
• Conduct performance analysis during flight testing and operational phases, identifying areas for improvement.
• Work with engine manufacturers and airframe designers to optimize engine-airframe integration for maximum efficiency.
• Ensure aircraft performance meets regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
• Develop tools and methodologies for the collection and analysis of flight performance data .

Requirements

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on performance.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in aircraft performance engineering or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of aerodynamics, flight dynamics, and propulsion systems.
• Proficiency in performance simulation software (e.g., FlightGear, PROOSIS) and data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
• Experience with flight testing and data reduction techniques is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data for aerospace applications .
