About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Aircraft Stress Engineer to join their engineering department in Sheffield . This role involves performing structural analysis and stress calculations for aircraft components and structures, ensuring they meet the stringent requirements for safety, performance, and longevity. You will work closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and certification authorities to validate structural integrity throughout the aircraft lifecycle. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and stress calculations on aircraft components and assemblies using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
- Develop and validate mathematical models to simulate structural behavior under various load conditions.
- Interpret and apply aerospace material properties and failure criteria in analysis.
- Support the design process by providing timely structural substantiation data.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and repair teams to ensure structural integrity is maintained through production and service.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for design reviews and certification purposes.
Requirements
- Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering with a strong focus on structural mechanics.
- Proven experience in aerospace structural analysis and stress engineering.
- Proficiency with FEA software packages such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or Abaqus.
- Solid understanding of aircraft structures, materials science, and fatigue/fracture mechanics.
- Knowledge of relevant aerospace standards and certification requirements (e.g., CS-25, FAR Part 25 ).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
