Alternative Funds Tax - Associate Director

Job Summary

Grant Thornton’s Alternative Funds tax team is looking for an experienced Associate Director to lead tax compliance and advisory services for alternative fund managers across a broad range of asset classes. The role is based in London and involves ownership of client relationships, transaction support, and business development.

Responsibilities

• Provide highly technical tax advice to asset managers and the funds they manage throughout the investment lifecycle, including transaction and tax structuring support.
• Deliver partnership and corporate tax compliance services to asset management businesses, ensuring timely reporting and compliance.
• Assist with investor reporting to enable clients to communicate taxable results to individual investors.
• Develop and manage a diverse client portfolio, maintaining high levels of client service.
• Collaborate with Grant Thornton tax practice, the Financial Services Industry team and the international network to identify new and existing client opportunities.
• Lead business development activities by managing existing relationships and pitching work to new clients.
• Train and develop junior team members, including delivering bespoke training sessions.
• Adhere to the firm’s risk management and quality procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• Professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent).
• Strong experience in managing a portfolio of clients.

Required Skills

• Strong tax technical skills and interest in the financial services sector.
• Experience with corporate and partnership tax compliance.
• Track record of leading projects with a focus on accountability, high quality and timely delivery.
• Self‑motivated, strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and oral/written communication ability.
• Familiarity with Alpha tax, CCH personal tax, Power BI, Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• Experience coaching and developing junior team members.
