Animation Director

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly creative and experienced Animation Director to lead their talented team of animators in Sheffield . You will be responsible for overseeing the artistic and technical direction of animated projects, ensuring a consistent and high-quality visual style from conception through to final delivery. This pivotal role demands strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of animation principles, and the ability to inspire and guide animators to achieve exceptional results. You will play a key role in shaping the aesthetic and storytelling of animated content, working closely with directors, story artists, and technical supervisors to bring projects to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide artistic and technical leadership for the animation team throughout the production pipeline.
• Collaborate with directors and storyboard artists to translate script and story concepts into compelling animated sequences.
• Set and maintain the visual style and quality standards for all animated elements.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on animation performances, ensuring emotional resonance and character believability.
• Guide animators in technical aspects, including rigging, animation tools, and workflow optimization.
• Manage animation schedules and resources, ensuring timely delivery of all animation assets.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in animation, with at least 3 years in a directorial or supervisory role.
• A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional character animation and visual storytelling across various styles.
• In-depth knowledge of 2D and/or 3D animation principles, software (e.g., Maya, Blender, Toon Boom), and pipelines.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate an animation team.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
