Animation Director

About the Role

Our client, a leading game development studio, is seeking an experienced and inspiring Animation Director to lead their animation team in Belfast . You will be responsible for setting the animation vision, guiding the team to deliver exceptional character and creature performances that bring our game worlds to life. This pivotal role requires a blend of artistic talent, technical understanding, and strong leadership to ensure the highest quality of animation across all projects. You will work closely with the creative leadership and other department heads to establish and maintain a cohesive artistic direction, contributing to a vibrant studio environment renowned for its creative output and collaborative spirit.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and direct the overall animation style and quality standards for game projects.
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of animators, providing clear feedback and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with character artists, riggers, and game designers to ensure fluid and believable character performances.
• Oversee the animation pipeline, identifying and implementing improvements for efficiency and quality.
• Review and approve all animation assets, ensuring they meet project requirements and artistic vision.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in game development animation, with at least 3 years in a leadership or directorial role.
• A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional character animation and directing capabilities.
• In-depth knowledge of animation principles , cinematography, and storytelling through movement.
• Proficiency with industry-standard animation software (e.g., Maya, MotionBuilder) and game engines.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage and motivate a team in a studio setting.
