About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Application Security Specialist to join their hybrid team in Nottingham . This role focuses on ensuring that software applications are developed and maintained with robust security measures in place. You will work closely with development teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC), conduct security testing, and identify vulnerabilities in applications. This is a critical role for protecting the company's products and services from security threats, ensuring compliance, and maintaining customer trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate security into the SDLC , including threat modeling, code reviews, and security testing.
- Perform security assessments of web applications, APIs, and mobile applications.
- Identify, triage, and track application vulnerabilities through to remediation.
- Develop and maintain security guidelines and best practices for software development teams.
- Educate developers on secure coding techniques and common application vulnerabilities.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest application security threats, trends, and technologies.
- Collaborate with QA teams to ensure security test cases are comprehensive.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in application security, secure software development, or a related role.
- Understanding of common web application vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
- Experience with static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST) tools.
- Knowledge of secure coding principles and practices.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
