Arable Farm Worker

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and hardworking Arable Farm Worker to join their team in Cardiff . This role is integral to the day-to-day operations of a busy arable farm, focusing on the cultivation and harvesting of crops. You will be involved in a variety of tasks, from preparing the soil and planting seeds to managing crop health and operating farm machinery. This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is physically fit, and has a keen interest in the agricultural sector, contributing directly to the farm's productivity and success.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain tractors, combines, sprayers, and other farm machinery safely and efficiently.
• Prepare fields for planting, including ploughing, harrowing, and drilling.
• Sow seeds and plant crops according to the farm's planting schedule and best practices.
• Apply fertilizers and pesticides under supervision, following safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
• Monitor crop growth and health, identifying and reporting any signs of disease or pest infestation.
• Assist with harvesting operations, ensuring efficient and timely collection of crops.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs on farm equipment and structures.

Requirements

• Previous experience working on an arable farm or with agricultural machinery.
• A valid UK driving license and ideally, certification for operating specific farm machinery (e.g., PA1, PA2, PA3).
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Basic understanding of crop cultivation and farm safety procedures.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new farming techniques and technologies specific to the Cardiff area.
