About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Arboricultural Consultant to join their specialist team serving clients across Bristol and the South West region. This role involves providing expert advice on all aspects of tree management, including surveys, risk assessments, development constraints, and preservation orders. You will liaise with developers, local authorities, architects, and private clients, producing high-quality reports and recommendations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed tree condition surveys, decay detection, and structural assessments.
- Produce comprehensive arboricultural reports for planning applications, including impact assessments and method statements.
- Advise on tree protection measures during construction projects and ensure compliance with British Standards (e.g., BS5837).
- Undertake tree risk assessments and provide recommendations for remedial works.
- Liaise effectively with clients, statutory bodies, and other professionals involved in development projects.
- Provide expert witness testimony when required for legal disputes or planning appeals.
Requirements
- Professional qualification in Arboriculture or a related field (e.g., RFS Diploma, BSc Arboriculture).
- Significant post-qualification experience (7+ years) in consultancy.
- Expert knowledge of tree species, physiology, pathology, and structural mechanics.
- Proficiency in relevant surveying techniques and reporting standards (e.g., BS5837, QTRA).
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Membership of a professional body (e.g., Arboricultural Association, ICF) is highly desirable.
