Arboricultural Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a knowledgeable Arboricultural Officer to manage and care for trees and woodlands in the Nottingham area. This role involves assessing tree health, planning and overseeing tree maintenance and planting programs, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. You will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the urban and rural tree stock, contributing to environmental quality and public safety. This position is ideal for an individual with a passion for trees and a solid understanding of arboriculture.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of trees to assess health, identify hazards, and recommend appropriate management actions.
• Develop and implement tree planting, pruning, and removal programs.
• Oversee contractors carrying out arboricultural works, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
• Maintain detailed records of tree surveys, management plans, and completed works.
• Advise on tree-related planning applications and provide expert opinions on arboricultural matters.
• Promote best practices in arboriculture and tree preservation within the community.

Requirements

• Qualifications in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a related environmental science field (e.g., RFS Certificate, FdSc, BSc).
• Proven experience in tree inspection, assessment, and management.
• Good knowledge of tree species, diseases, pests, and modern arboricultural techniques.
• Understanding of relevant legislation and planning policies relating to trees.
• Ability to manage projects and supervise contractors effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
