Area General Manager
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is recruiting for this role located in London.
Job Purpose
Providing leadership, management, and development of an agreed portfolio of CBRE contracts, ensuring financial and operational commitments are met and exceeded.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and plan development of a defined portfolio of contracts to meet and exceed commitments.
- Exploit opportunities for strategic development of contracts to increase turnover, profitability, and secure re‑tender on contracts.
- Ensure business policies and processes are communicated and implemented within contracts.
- Ensure contracts provide healthy and safe working conditions and that health and safety policy is implemented across CBRE and subcontractors.
- Maintain optimum staffing structures across contracts, balancing cost reduction with service excellence and supporting peaks, troughs, disaster recovery, and expertise sharing.
- Ensure contracts are staffed by fully competent teams, appoint contract managers, and implement succession planning.
- Collaborate with other operational managers to develop business, foster teamwork, and support colleagues.
- Develop financial plans for revenue and profit delivery, reduce WIP, debt, cost and drive contract growth.
- Ensure appropriate contract review, audit and control systems meet statutory, policy and contractual commitments.
- Maintain customer focus and effective relationships with key client contacts.
- Promote CBRE core values.
- Provide leadership, coaching, assessment and recognition/reward.
- Support effective business communication through meetings, briefings, publications and reporting.
- Support sales process, solutions development, presentations, consultation meetings and mobilisation of new contracts.
- Ensure learning environment, training and development planning, and basic training delivery.
Accountabilities
- Accountable to CBRE functional heads.
- Accountable day‑to‑day to relevant client contacts.
- Line management of a small team of contract managers.
- Financial responsibility for delivering plan commitments for the contract portfolio.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven track record within the facilities management industry.
- Managerial experience as Contract/Account Manager or above in technical/hard services.
- Experience in developing and reviewing teams, appraisal, and applying people‑management practices.
- Excellent motivational and influencing skills with high integrity.
- Self‑starter, confident, composed, organised, prioritising and delivering under high pressure.
- Strategic thinking balanced with tactical delivery for client satisfaction.
- Excellent understanding of health & safety legislation.
- Ability to gain trust and support of top‑level management and key client decision makers.
- Experienced client relationship manager with influencing and negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for managing people at all levels.
- Strong financial skills and ability to manage conflict and crisis situations.
