Assistant Farm Manager – Poultry
Salary: £32,500 per annum Hours: 7:00am–5:00pm, working on a rota Monday to Sunday Contract: Permanent, full-time Start Date: ASAP
CDS Labour are recruiting a reliable and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to join an established poultry farming business in the Boston area.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with poultry, hatchery, livestock or farming experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will receive practical experience across all areas of broiler farm management while working closely with experienced Farm Managers.
The Role
You will support the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the farm, ensuring bird welfare remains the highest priority.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing daily husbandry duties and monitoring bird welfare
- Supporting vaccinations, bird weighing, catching and collection
- Monitoring feeding, watering, heating, lighting and ventilation systems
- Maintaining accurate records of birds, feed, treatments and farm activities
- Following strict biosecurity, hygiene and sanitation procedures
- Monitoring flock performance and reporting any concerns
- Carrying out basic fault-finding and minor repairs when safe to do so
- Keeping poultry houses, farm areas and roadways clean and well maintained
- Supporting farm security and receiving authorised visitors
- Providing alarm and out-of-hours cover when required
- Assisting Farm Managers across different areas of the operation
- Completing additional farm duties as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in poultry, hatchery, livestock or a similar farming environment
- A strong commitment to animal welfare
- Knowledge of biosecurity and hygiene standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic mechanical or technical skills
- Good record-keeping and communication skills
- Flexibility to work according to the needs of the farm
- Good spoken and written English
- A full driving licence and your own transport are essential due to the rural location
Important Biosecurity Requirement
Due to strict biosecurity regulations, applicants must not have contact with or keep other birds outside work, including domestic poultry or caged birds.
