About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Assistant Financial Controller to join their esteemed finance department based in Manchester . This role offers a significant opportunity to support the Financial Controller in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will be involved in a wide range of accounting activities, from financial reporting to internal controls and process improvement. The ideal candidate will thrive in an office-based setting, contributing directly to the team's success through close collaboration and hands-on involvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Financial Controller in all aspects of financial management and reporting.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger staff.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Support operational teams with financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting requests.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a strong academic record.
- At least 4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
- Deep understanding of financial accounting principles and UK GAAP .
- Proficiency with financial management software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
