About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve as the Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Inclusion at a vibrant primary school in Stoke-on-Trent . This senior leadership position is critical in championing an inclusive environment where every child, regardless of their background or needs, feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed. You will lead on SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) provision, pastoral care, and the development of strategies to ensure equitable access to education for all pupils. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader committed to fostering a culture of care, understanding, and high expectations throughout the school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the school's Inclusion agenda, including SEND provision, pastoral support, and safeguarding.
- Develop and implement policies and practices that promote equality, diversity, and inclusion for all pupils and staff.
- Oversee the identification, assessment, and support of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Manage and mentor the pastoral care team and support staff involved in inclusion services.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies, parents, and carers to ensure comprehensive support for vulnerable students.
- Contribute to the overall strategic leadership and management of the school as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree.
- Significant experience in a leadership role within a primary school setting, with a focus on Inclusion or SEND.
- Thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, foster positive relationships, and drive school improvement.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
