About the Role

Our client is seeking an inspiring and dedicated leader to join their school in Plymouth as an Assistant Headteacher with a focus on Pastoral Care . This senior leadership role is integral to ensuring the well-being and positive development of all students. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a supportive school culture, overseeing student welfare, behaviour management, and safeguarding policies. This is a key position for an experienced educator committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the school's pastoral care systems, including student welfare, behaviour, and attendance.
• Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures related to student safeguarding and well-being.
• Provide guidance and support to staff, students, and parents on pastoral matters.
• Work closely with external agencies and professionals to support students with complex needs.
• Promote a positive and inclusive school ethos that values diversity and mutual respect.
• Contribute to the strategic direction and overall management of the school as part of the Senior Leadership Team.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant leadership experience.
• Demonstrable experience in managing pastoral care, student welfare, and safeguarding.
• Strong understanding of child protection legislation and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
