Job Description
Role: Assistant Quality ManagerLocation: BristolSalary: Up to 50,000 depending on experienceMy client well-established aerospace engineering business based in Bristol, looking for an experienced Assistant Quality Manager to join their team.The role will involve leading a small team of Quality Inspectors and working closely with the Quality Manager to manage the day-to-day quality function.This would suit someone with a background in quality engineering or quality management who has some supervisory experience and is looking for the next step in their career. You will need to be comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment, dealing with quality issues and finding practical solutions on the shop floor.Responsibilities include:Leading and motivating a small team of Quality InspectorsSupporting the training and development of the teamManaging the throughput of finished goods from a quality perspectiveManaging the day-to-day quality requirements of the sub-contract supplier baseSupporting FMEA and FAIR activitiesMaintaining documentation and records relating to quality activitiesProgramming CMMsActing as the link between the Quality Inspectors and Quality ManagerInvestigating quality issues and providing practical solutions on the shop floorInterpreting engineering drawings, specifications, route cards and process instructionsReviewing dimensions, tolerances and inspection requirementsPreparing and maintaining reports in accordance with AS9102Skills and experience:Experience in a quality engineering, quality inspection or quality management roleExperience within aerospace or precision engineeringPrevious experience supervising or leading a small team, or looking to take the next step into a supervisory roleExperience with CMM programmingGood knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions and tolerancesExperience with FMEA, FAIRs and AS9102Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to resolving quality issuesGood communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the businessA relevant engineering or quality qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND, degree or equivalentBeneficial but not essential:Experience programming Aberlink CMMsAdditional quality-related qualificationsExperience managing or developing a teamWR Engineering are the #1 recruitment partner for engineering, manufacturing & technical sales jobs.
