With relocation assistance available, you can join AECOM’s growing Perth team and work on major projects across Mining, Energy, Defence, Transport and Water.Backed by an incredible pipeline of work, some of Australia's biggest projects and global career opportunities, Perth is the perfect place to build your career while enjoying an unbeatable lifestyle.About the roleIn this role, you will lead the hydraulic design and technical review of stormwater and drainage infrastructure across major projects, with a strong focus on practical, buildable and technically robust outcomes.Your responsibilities are likely to include:Leading the hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage infrastructure for major transport, defence and energy projectsProviding technical leadership in the design of pit and pipe drainage networks, open channel systems, culverts, detention and treatment infrastructure, major/minor drainage systems and flood conveyance infrastructureOverseeing hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, including interpretation of results and integration into design outcomesReviewing and approving technical calculations, design models, drawings, reports and specificationsAdvising project teams and clients on flood risk, drainage strategy, network performance, design criteria and infrastructure resilienceSupporting delivery from planning and concept design through to detailed design and construction supportActing as a senior technical reviewer and mentor to developing engineers across the teamSupporting client engagement, work winning and proposal development in the Perth marketContributing to the growth and maturity of the local drainage and water resources capabilityWe are looking for a highly experienced and credible engineering professional with strong technical depth in stormwater and drainage hydraulics, together with the leadership capability to guide teams and support project delivery.QualificationsWhat you'll bring We are looking for the following broad experience:15+ years of relevant post-graduate experienceDemonstrated experience in the planning, hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage networksStrong capability in stormwater network hydraulics, including the performance of both underground and surface drainage systemsExperience delivering major infrastructure projects within a consulting or multidisciplinary engineering environmentThe ability to provide technical leadership, design review and mentoring across a teamStrong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence in engaging with clients and key stakeholdersSound commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to successful project delivery outcomesThe following key skills would be highly advantageous:Experience across major road corridors, rail, Defence, aviation, renewables or other major infrastructure sectorsFamiliarity with relevant design standards, policies and guidance, including ARR 2019 and relevant state or authority drainage criteriaProficiency with relevant software used in drainage and hydraulic design, such as 12d, Drains, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, MUSIC, RORB or similar toolsExperience in technical governance, independent design review and project assuranceExisting client relationships and market presence within Western AustraliaExperience supporting the growth of a technical team or discipline capabilityQualificationsTertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related disciplineCPEng or equivalent professional registration highly regardedAdditional InformationWhy you'll love working with usFlexible work arrangements including alternative start/finish times, job-sharing and hybrid work options.Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year.Volunteer and representation leave to support causes important to you.Flex public holidays, giving you greater choice over how and when you take leave.You'll also benefit from access to industry-leading projects, technical experts across our global network, structured career development pathways and the opportunity to help shape some of Western Australia's most significant infrastructure investments.Come grow with us and help deliver a better world.At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously. To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
