Associate / Vice President – Energy & Infrastructure

Our client is a specialist energy advisory and corporate finance boutique advising clients across renewables, energy & infrastructure, oil & gas and the wider energy transition.

The firm has a strong track record of advising on M&A, capital raising, asset acquisitions and disposals and strategic advisory mandates across the energy value chain.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced M&A / corporate finance professional to join the advisory team in Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will work across the origination and execution of advisory mandates, gaining exposure to a broad range of transactions and working closely with senior colleagues, clients, investors and other transaction advisers.

The role will cover a range of mandates including M&A, capital raising, asset transactions, strategic reviews and restructuring assignments across the energy and infrastructure markets.

The level of responsibility will be dependent on experience, with the opportunity to take increasing ownership of transactions, client relationships, business development and junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed financial models, including valuation analysis, returns analysis, sensitivities and transaction scenarios.
• Undertake financial and commercial analysis to support transaction execution and strategic advisory assignments.
• Prepare high-quality transaction materials including teasers, information memoranda, management presentations, process letters and supporting analysis.
• Coordinate transaction processes, including buyer and investor engagement, due diligence, data room management, information requests and transaction timetables.
• Support clients and senior team members throughout competitive and bilateral M&A processes, from initial engagement through to completion.
• Undertake company, market and sector research to support transaction origination and execution.
• Contribute to business development activities, client relationship management and sector coverage.
• Present analysis and transaction recommendations to senior colleagues and, where appropriate, clients.
• Depending on experience, supervise and support junior team members, including reviewing financial models and transaction materials.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in M&A, corporate finance, investment banking, transaction services, private equity, infrastructure advisory, energy advisory, corporate development or a closely related transaction-focused environment.

You should have:

• Strong financial modelling and valuation skills.
• Experience supporting or leading M&A and corporate finance transactions.
• The ability to produce high-quality transaction and client materials.
• Strong analytical and commercial judgement.
• The ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet demanding transaction deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A genuine interest in the energy, infrastructure and wider energy transition markets.

Experience across renewables, energy services, infrastructure, oil & gas, natural resources or energy transition would be advantageous, although candidates with strong transaction experience from adjacent sectors will also be considered.
