ATE Technical Lead

ATE Technical Lead | Cambourne | Inside IR35 Contract

Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced ATE Technical Lead to join an innovative R&D engineering team developing advanced connected technology products.

This is a highly hands-on technical leadership role, responsible for the development, deployment and lifecycle ownership of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) across a product line. You’ll work across hardware, software, instrumentation, embedded systems and manufacturing, helping to take test solutions from initial concept through to production deployment and ongoing optimisation.

The Role

As ATE Technical Lead, you will:

+Lead the architecture, development, validation and deployment of ATE systems.

+Own the technical roadmap for test equipment, ensuring solutions are maintainable, scalable and aligned with production requirements.

+Define tester requirements, test strategies, integration plans, acceptance criteria and production transfer documentation.

Lead tester bring-up and integration across mechanical, electronic, embedded software, instrumentation, fixtures and production interfaces.

+Manage ATE projects from requirements and design through to deployment, including planning, risk management, design reviews and stakeholder communication.

+Provide technical leadership and hands-on support throughout the ATE lifecycle.

+Support production environments with troubleshooting, calibration, failure analysis, reliability improvements and yield optimisation.

About You

We're looking for an experienced ATE/Test Engineer who combines strong technical depth with a hands-on approach and the ability to lead complex technical activities.

You'll ideally have:

+A BSc or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics or a related technical discipline.

+At least 5 years' hands-on experience in ATE system integration, development, validation, deployment and production support.

+Experience leading technical projects within a multidisciplinary engineering or manufacturing environment.

+Strong knowledge of hardware systems, instrumentation, embedded interfaces, networking and system-level integration.

+Hands-on experience with automated test development and production test environments, ideally using National Instruments TestStand or an equivalent ATE platform.

+Strong Python skills, particularly for test automation, debugging, tooling, data processing and system integration.
