Automation & Controls Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer to join their innovative team based in Derby, Derbyshire , offering a hybrid working model. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated control systems across their manufacturing processes. You will be involved in optimizing efficiency, ensuring system reliability, and driving technological advancements within the plant. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop control system architectures, including PLC programming, HMI configuration, and SCADA integration.
• Implement and commission new automation projects, ensuring seamless integration with existing plant systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and control system issues to minimize production downtime.
• Conduct performance analysis of automated systems and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for control systems, including logic diagrams, P&IDs, and operational manuals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and process improvements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automation or Controls Engineer, with a strong background in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Proficiency in HMI/SCADA software and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Strong understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems related to automation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to system design and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting.
• Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
