Automation Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Automation Electrical Engineer to join their innovative team in Derby, Derbyshire . This role is focused on the design, implementation, and support of automated electrical systems that drive efficiency and precision in manufacturing and industrial processes. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to develop and maintain state-of-the-art automation solutions, including PLC programming, HMI development, and robotic integration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation and a passion for leveraging technology to optimize operations, contributing to the company's technological advancement in the Derby region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control systems for automated machinery and production lines.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMIs.
• Integrate robotic systems and other automation technologies into existing production environments.
• Perform electrical installation, wiring, and commissioning of control panels and equipment.
• Provide technical support for automation systems, identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define automation requirements and implement solutions that enhance productivity and quality.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering , Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) and HMI software.
• Experience with VFDs, servo motors, and industrial networking protocols.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, panel design, and safety standards for automation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid, project-driven environment in Derby .
