About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and skilled Automation Engineer to join their team remotely, contributing to their advanced manufacturing initiatives near Sheffield . This role is central to the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems and machinery that enhance production efficiency, safety, and quality. You will be instrumental in modernizing our manufacturing processes through cutting-edge automation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program automated systems, including robotics, PLCs, and HMI interfaces.
• Install, commission, and test new automated equipment and production lines.
• Troubleshoot and repair automated machinery, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational readiness.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for automation.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics, programming code, and user manuals.
• Ensure all automation systems comply with safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Automation Engineer or in a similar role focused on industrial automation.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
• Experience with robotics, sensor technology, and industrial networking protocols.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote capacity.
