About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented Automation Engineer to join their team in Glasgow . This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency and product quality. You will work hands-on with cutting-edge technology, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background in automation and a passion for optimizing complex industrial systems. This is a crucial, on-site role within a highly productive manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement automated manufacturing systems using PLC, robotics, and other control technologies.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automated equipment and processes to ensure minimal disruption to production.
Develop and maintain system documentation, including electrical schematics, programming code, and operating manuals.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to select and integrate automation solutions.
Conduct feasibility studies and pilot projects for new automation technologies.
Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel on automated systems.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering , or a related field.
Proven experience as an Automation Engineer or in a similar role involving industrial automation.
Strong knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and robotics.
Experience with sensor technology, motion control, and industrial networks.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively on-site and as part of a collaborative team.
