Automation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to enhance their manufacturing capabilities in Sheffield . This role will focus on the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety on the production floor. You will work with cutting-edge technologies to integrate robotics, control systems, and software solutions into existing and new manufacturing lines. The ideal candidate is passionate about automation and possesses a strong background in both hardware and software aspects of industrial automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission automated manufacturing systems, including robots and PLCs.
• Troubleshoot and maintain existing automation equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and implement strategies for improving production efficiency through automation.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify automation opportunities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for automation systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards for all automated equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in industrial automation , including PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Experience with robotics (e.g., FANUC, KUKA) and automated vision systems.
• Strong understanding of control systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical and mechanical schematics.
