About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Automotive Battery Systems Engineer to join their pioneering team in Bristol . This role is central to the design, development, and integration of advanced battery systems for electric and hybrid vehicles. You will contribute to key areas such as battery management systems (BMS), thermal management, and cell integration, driving the performance and safety of next-generation electric powertrains. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop battery pack architectures, including cell arrangement, thermal management, and structural integrity.
- Develop and validate battery management system (BMS) algorithms for state-of-charge (SoC), state-of-health (SoH), and safety monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on powertrain integration, electrical systems, and software development.
- Conduct performance, durability, and safety testing of battery systems under various operating conditions.
- Analyze test data and simulation results to optimize battery performance and lifespan.
- Ensure compliance with automotive safety standards and regulations relevant to battery systems.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive battery systems engineering, particularly with Li-ion technologies.
- Strong understanding of battery chemistry, cell performance characteristics, and degradation mechanisms.
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS) hardware and software design.
- Knowledge of thermal management techniques for battery packs.
- Familiarity with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) and regulatory requirements for EV batteries.
