Automotive Body Shop Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Automotive Body Shop Technician to join their dedicated team in Portsmouth . In this role, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicle bodies to their pre-accident condition. You will work with a variety of vehicles, utilizing your expertise in panel beating, welding, and structural repair. This is an on-site position where attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship are paramount. You will be part of a busy workshop environment, contributing to the efficient and effective repair of vehicles, ensuring customer satisfaction and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural repairs, panel beating, and replacement of damaged vehicle body parts.
• Conduct MIG and TIG welding, straightening, and shaping of metal panels.
• Disassemble and reassemble vehicle body components for repair access.
• Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding and priming.
• Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and automotive industry standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Body Shop Technician or Panel Beater.
• Proficiency in various repair techniques, including welding, straightening, and panel replacement.
• Experience with modern vehicle construction and materials (e.g., aluminum, high-strength steel).
• Ability to accurately assess damage and estimate repair times.
• A strong understanding of vehicle safety systems and structural integrity.
• Good physical condition and the ability to work in a workshop environment.
