About the Role
Our client is seeking a proficient Automotive Chassis Design Engineer to join their dynamic engineering department in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire . This role is central to the development of vehicle chassis systems, focusing on delivering exceptional handling, ride comfort, and safety. You will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and validation of chassis components and architectures, working with a highly skilled team on exciting new vehicle platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop vehicle chassis components, including suspension systems, steering systems, and braking systems.
- Utilize CAD software to create 3D models and 2D drawings of chassis components and assemblies.
- Perform structural analysis and simulations (FEA) to ensure the strength, stiffness, and durability of chassis designs.
- Collaborate with vehicle dynamics engineers to optimize chassis performance for handling, ride, and stability.
- Work closely with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are feasible for mass production.
- Conduct validation testing, analyze results, and implement design modifications as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in automotive chassis design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5, SolidWorks).
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics principles and suspension kinematics.
- Experience with FEA tools for structural analysis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to chassis components.
