About the Role

Our client is actively recruiting for an Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Birmingham . This role is central to the development of next-generation vehicle electrical architectures, focusing on power distribution, signal integrity, and the integration of complex electronic control units. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the reliability and performance of the vehicle's electrical components, working within a hybrid model that balances on-site collaboration with remote flexibility. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electrical system architectures, including wiring harnesses, connectors, and power distribution units.
• Specify and integrate electronic control modules (ECMs), sensors, and actuators for various vehicle functions.
• Perform electrical simulations and analysis to ensure system robustness and compliance with automotive standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues during vehicle development and testing phases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and mechanical designers, to achieve system integration goals.
• Support validation testing and homologation activities, ensuring all electrical systems meet regulatory requirements in the Birmingham area and beyond.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related discipline.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in automotive electrical systems design and development.
• Proficiency with electrical design tools (e.g., Zuken E3.series, Mentor Graphics) and simulation software.
• Solid understanding of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
• Experience with power electronics and battery management systems is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills, with a methodical approach to problem-solving in a hybrid work setting.
