About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Glasgow . This role is central to the design, development, and integration of complex electrical systems within modern vehicles. You will work on everything from power distribution and battery management to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and connectivity features. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, automotive standards, and a passion for developing the electrical architecture of future vehicles. This position is based in our cutting-edge facility, offering a collaborative environment dedicated to pushing the boundaries of automotive technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate electrical system architectures for new vehicle platforms, ensuring robustness and compliance with automotive standards.
- Specify and select electrical components, including sensors, actuators, ECUs, and wiring harnesses, for optimal system performance.
- Develop and implement power distribution strategies and manage battery management systems for both conventional and electrified vehicles.
- Work closely with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical hardware with vehicle control software.
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical system issues during development and validation phases.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of functional safety (ISO 26262) for electrical systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in automotive electrical systems engineering.
- Solid understanding of automotive electrical standards, including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and diagnostics protocols.
- Experience with schematic capture tools and PCB design principles for automotive applications.
- Knowledge of ADAS systems and their electrical integration requirements.
- Familiarity with functional safety (FuSa) and cybersecurity principles in automotive electrical systems.
